Landed ceramics is the creation of Katherine. Originally from the United Kingdom, she fell in love with ceramics while living in California. She now lives in Saint Julien en Born in the heart of Les Landes, SW France.
The name “Landed” refers to Les Landes where she now lives. Additionally, the word landed is also a play on words, referencing the idea of being grounded. For Katherine she has finally 'landed' or 'arrived' at her vocation.
The word landed also makes a literal reference to the land or earth. Her work is entirely handmade and the physical contact with the clay is a direct connection with nature. Her pieces often refer to the natural beauty she discovers while exploring Les Landes.

CREATIVE PROCESS
All items are made by hand in my workshop in the heart of Les Landes. The materials used include stoneware and porcelain and are made using slab, coiling and sculptural techniques. For this reason, many pieces are unique and those belonging to a series will contain minor variations. Customers can expect variations in the colour, thickness and shape of my forms. This is part of the beauty of handmade work.
Care is taken to ensure that food items can withstand washing and regular use. Although hand washing is recommended, many of my pieces are dishwasher and microwave safe. This is specified in the item description.
